Kaleab Zelalem

In the realm of language instruction, few individuals go beyond the traditional boundaries of teaching, weaving together language, culture, and innovation. Mr. Kaleab Zelalem, an experienced Mandarin teacher, has passionately influenced many Mandarin language students in our country and abroad.

Kaleab began his journey in the pursuit of Chinese culture and language when he went to China as a student in his youth. His academic pursuits, held at Hubei Normal University in Hubei Province, China, not only honed his linguistic expertise in Mandarin but also led to a bachelor's degree in international law. His stay in China laid the foundation for a career dedicated to fostering understanding and connection between his roots in his country and many international students abroad.

In the classroom, Mr. Kaleab is not merely an instructor but a facilitator of experiences. His teaching style is dynamic, interactive, and imbued with a genuine love for the language. He has navigated the complexities of Mandarin, transforming them into stepping stones for learners, creating an environment where curiosity flourishes by also resonating his lessons with his students' backgrounds. This has been the case during his work as he provided language training for over 1,000 students from countries in Africa and Europe. He has also provided customized language training for multiple Ethiopian and Chinese enterprises. In addition, Mr. Kaleab has given language training to high-ranked government officials within our country.

Beyond the confines of education, Mr. Kaleab has actively contributed to various Chinese projects, playing a pivotal role in cultural exchange initiatives and working with Chinese enterprises to invest in Ethiopia in 2023. He has been invited by the Embassy of China in Ethiopia and the Confucius Institution to be the judge of the 2023 CCECC Cup "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for University and Secondary School Students in Ethiopia. He has worked on other projects, such as promoting Ambassador on Tmall International (天猫国际) and introducing Gera Coffee to the Chinese market during Double Eleven (双十一). He also worked at CCCC as a project assistant manager and most recently worked on the Ethiopian project of the Defence Specialized Referral Hospital. His commitment to bridging cultures goes hand in hand with his innovative teaching methods, making Mandarin accessible and enjoyable for students of all backgrounds.

Recognition has rightfully followed Kaleab's path, acknowledging his skill in teaching and contributions to cross-cultural understanding. He remains a humble advocate for the transformational power of language in fostering global connections within his founded NIHAO HABESHA LANGUAGE SCHOOL and outside.
